I wanted to write a post about five very special ladies to me.
My mom is incredible. I was a pretty emotionally high maintenance child and teenager (and still can be as an adult). She stuck to my side the entire time and was able to calm me. She went above and beyond what a mother needs to do everyday. As an adult, she is still my mom, but has also become one of my best friends. She has taught me what it is to follow Jesus. She loves me in all of my imperfections. Happy Mother's Day Mom!

One of the reasons my mom is pretty awesome is because of her mom, my Granny. She is absolutely a wonderful lady. One of the many things I admire about her is how beautifully she has accepted change in her life, while still remaining true to herself. She has allowed all of her life experiences shape her to be a beautiful mother. She is the reason that our extended family is so incredibly close. She is an amazing gift.

This is not Father's day, but my dad is who he is because of his mother, my Grandma. She is such a role model. She lived in Brazil for many years raising her children as a missionary's wife. She has faced many hardships and doesn't ever complain. She has very strong opinions, but allows others to voice their different opinions to her and only accepts those differences with respect. She faces everyone she meets no matter how different they are from her, with love and without judgment.

These three ladies have so much more than I have mentioned and also share many of the same character traits that I mentioned. I really cannot believe how blessed I am that these three ladies are considered mothers to me.
The next two mothers I have a relationship with through my oldest and youngest children. Enat (yes, to all of you adoptive Ethiopian families- I know this name means mother, but it is actually her name) is Nati's first mother. Nati carries her character with him. She is beautiful and strong. I hope to see her again on this earth, but if not, I cannot wait to see her in Heaven. I wrote quite a bit about my feelings towards her a couple of years ago in this post. Malawe is Ada's first mother. I also was able to meet her and to share an embrace and kiss with her. In the face of very difficult hardships, she was able to still show love to our daughter. I will never be able to put into words how special these two ladies are to me. Nati carries on memories of Enat with love. Unfortunately, Ada will not have those memories because of her age, but I will be able to share our meeting. Malawe did give Ada two of her most beautiful traits though, her lips and her eyebrows.
Thank you God for these blessings, and I will make sure to pass these blessings on.

Ellen - what a beautiful tribute to these 5 special mothers. You too are an awesome Mother! Can't wait to see you in June. Love, Linda
I loved reading this blog- and it is so right on! What a blessing each of these ladies are, especially the two I know best. I love our family. Nancy
Lovely tribute! It's wonderful to have a Godly family heritage. Where was your grandmother in Brazil? My parents were missionaries there too.
